I can’t believe Superman killed someone…
someone is missing the point. Superman, as shown in the comics, has always been the one to NOT kill. he isnt iron man, he isnt cap. He is the big blue boyscout. he is nigh invincible, all powerful and CHOOSES to make killing a line in the sand. He chooses to stop short, to pull back, even in his biggest fights (darkseid, doomsday, etc) he pulls his punches. thats the point.
Reason #423 why Marvel is better than DC…..
Oh, 100% agree with Marvel over DC. I was just pointing out that if your character has been established for decades to have, as one of his core beliefs, a non-kill attitude and then kill in his latest movie, expect some blow back.
Except that he has killed in the comics. Multiple times. He killed Zod, he killed Doomsday, etc. He never wants to kill, but he does on occasion. Also, it’s not like he broke his neck, said “Fuck you Zod!”, and then spat on him. He shows actual remorse, which is almost NEVER shown in superhero movies. Personally, I think it makes a better story if a ‘no killing rule’ actually comes from something. Like, say… killed the last of your kind because you have no other choice. To those who say the writers shouldn’t have written the scene that way, I disagree. This movie actually gave the hero difficult choices. The Marvel movies are very fun, I agree. But (so far) they haven’t given their heroes nearly as formidable odds as DC does. I like to see our heroes actually tested.
